The community was very supportive and caring for students and staff alike, while having an intense focus on academics. Additionally, there are countless clubs and organizations that are offered to Linden Hall students in which participation is required in order to meet and surround yourself with new people and ideas, foster creative thinking, and more! Linden Hall is a safe haven where you will have the support from your teachers and other students to express yourself and show the world who you are!. The teachers are truly invested in the students education as well as their growth as learners, and they will do everything that they can to ensure the student feels comfortable with the material, even if that means staying late after school. Though it is a small school, Linden Hall allows for a lower student to teacher ratio, giving the students more confidence when asking questions, allowing them to be more engaged, and providing them with more opportunities for one-on-one time with the teachers. Senior: I have attended Linden Hall now for five years and have only great things to say about my experience. This is not to say that the school is unaccepting of the queer community, as many are supportive of the community. This, of course, is only one example of the difficulty in the progression of LGBTQ+ rights in middle schools, and I believe there is always room to improve. They instead must use the staff bathrooms during the school day, which are often locked/restricted for students. Being friends with a person who identifies as nonbinary has led me to discover the difficulty for them to access a bathroom in school. The exact reason for this is unknown, but many speculated it was a result of an unhappy student who lodged a complaint with the school and the destruction of the bathroom over the few weeks it had been available. The only student-friendly, gender-neutral bathroom was removed. Freshman: At MTWP, the teachers, students, and staff are mainly very kind and considerate, with counseling constantly available, although I would enjoy some changes in the awareness of trans and queer students.
